We’re on the cusp of another Valentine’s Day!
And if you happen to be one of the unfortunate who haven’t made plans yet, we here at MTR the Network would like to offer some of our favorite ideas for you and that special someone.
Dinner for Two at Tagliata
When it comes to a romantic dinner for two, nothing says love like Italian food. Billed as a “contemporary Italian steakhouse”, Tagliata serves a wide array of traditional and modern Italian food that appeals to everyone, including a wine list that boasts over one thousand bottles. It’s very hard to single out one dish if you and your date happen to be foodies. Fortunately, Tagliata is offering a prefix Valentine’s Day menu with a solid selection
A Romantic Walk Through Hampden
The oldest, cheapest date idea in recent decades, getting to know someone over an evening stroll is still a great way to find out if you should really be with the person in question. And while there are many great places to wander in Baltimore, I suggest you take that walk down Hampden’s Main Street.
There’s always something festive going on and if you get tired of walking, there is a myriad of bars, restaurants and other treats to savor. We recommend checking out Foraged.Eatery for dinner followed by ice cream at The Charmery located just up the block. Or if you are in the mood for lighter fair there are spots like Nori Sushi and The Food Market, both of which sell great small plates and a variety of alcohol.
Coffee Date at Sophomore Coffee
If you’re looking to keep things casual, how about a coffee date? While you could run to the nearest Starbucks or Dunkin’, we suggest coffee for two at Sophomore. This Baltimore staple serves coffee from various regions that are sure to satisfy the most discerning of coffee drinkers. In the words of my cohort, Rob Lee, “the coffee is educated”. Sophomore also offers a coffee of the month club that offers a different blend from a different region every month. A great idea if you decide that you like your coffee more than your date.
Drinks at Howl at the Moon
Piano bars are among my favorite type of bars. Naturally, a dueling piano bar would top the swankiest of night clubs. Howl at the Moon offers a great selection of drinks with some of the best piano music you’ll find in the city. And for Valentine’s Day, there will be drink specials, giveaways and appropriately themed music for all the happy couples who decide to come out.
Throwing Yourselves into the Yawning Maw of True Love
Look, no one is happier for you and your sweetie than me. But let’s be honest, this holiday is only special if you have someone to spend it with. For many of us, it’ll either be the second Friday of February or a painful reminder of what we don’t have. I say celebrate the love in your life if you are lucky enough to have it… just get a room first.
